Grant Funding for Bowls
BALLINGER CHARITABLE TRUST FUNDING
In association with Community Action Northumberland
Tweedmouth Bowling Club would like to take this opportunity to thank the Ballinger Charitable Trust in association with Community Action Northumberland for providing grant funding that enabled the club to purchase four sets of bowls, specifically for student & young persons. This is a massive boost to the club and will build on the success of last years Try Bowls events where we targeted students and young people onto the green to enjoy a game of bowls. These events and other coaching sessions in 2022 were aided by bowls grant funded through the Simpson McCreath Trust but following these sessions we became aware that we needed some extra sets of bowls of a size to cater for some of our younger age groups. Two particular sizes were identified and the club working with Community Action Northumberland in association with the Ballinger Charitable Trust, we were able to purchase a further four sets of bowls that would fill the gap identified. The bowls were purchased from Taylor Bowls in association with Bowls Scotland and these extra sets will enable us to increase student and young persons participation in the sport of lawn green bowls without the capital financial outlay for the equipment. Discussions are also well underway with local schools to get students down onto the green during the summer school term and our competitions team are also looking to hold a Junior Tweedmouth Feast Competition in July. This purchase also has a knock on effect for those adults with a disability such as arthritis where the size of the bowls are crucial. We can now cater for both new and existing bowlers who want to try a different size of bowl.
So for all you youngsters out there (from 8 to 88), Tweedmouth Bowling Club will be holding Try Bowls sessions once again throughout 2023. So watch our website or our Facebook page for details but if you cannot wait, please get in contact with the club and one of our coaches will arrange a session for you on the green. For all the students and juniors. we do have a welfare and protection policy to safeguard our young people and require a parent or guardian to accompany you whilst you are at the club but why not get them to come and enjoy the fun as well!
