SOUPENDOUS

Soup Bowls Final Total

THE FINAL COUNTDOWN

Our treasurer Margaret Hamilton had the task of counting all the donations from running the Soup Bowls throughout the autumn & winter and the final total came to a magnificent £1,970. This money will go into the club development fund and to help kick start the Soup Bowls for Autumn 2023 as well providing financial support for a number of development projects the club has in hand at present.

So … on behalf of the club can we thank our local community for the support shown during the last few months and we hope to welcome you along to some of our other community events soon. Watch this space for details or our Facebook page.

Friday 31st March saw the last of the Soup Bowls for spring 2023 and the club presented a little “thank you” to the Master Soup Dragon Dougie Cranston, Master of the Bowls Brian Lennon and our superb catering team of Margaret Bell and Freda Lennon.

This has been a magnificent effort by all concerned including our stand-in helpers some weeks as well as some of our guests who also entered into the Soup Bowl spirit by donating produce. The feedback has been humbling from some of our community guests who have been coming along during the winter months. Today one said “Our Friday lunch time soup bowls have been a god send post covid, allowing people to enjoy a hearty meal in warm surroundings but even more so the conversation and natter .. we will miss it”

With the club opening for the bowling season on Sunday 2nd April our Soup Bowls will be back next autumn so watch on Facebook or our website for details.

We will also be announcing the total of donations received during the Soup Bowls lunches once the treasurer has had time to count up the total over the next few days … so watch this space!!
