LADIES KILLER BOWLS 2023

What a night of bowls and a fitting way to remember one of our great friends Carol Ditchfield. A good field supported from the sidelines by a large crowd of onlookers and supporters were treated to some fantastic bowling, with one or two “killer” touches introduced when the competition neared its final qualifying stage. From the six rinks emerged, Margaret Laidlaw, Angeline Welsh, Angela Winson, Shona McClymont, Susan Lee & Betty Dryden as the front runners who played the final four ends of the tournament “corner to corner”, with our eventual winner being Angeline Welsh.

Angeline was presented with the Killer Bowls trophy by David Wakenshaw and after a brilliant night of fun and fundraising in memory of Carol the running total at present is sitting at £1250, which is being raised for Berwick Cancer Cars. £875 was raised on the evening and was helped by a fantastic donation of £375 from by one of our club members Trevor Akin, from his surprise birthday bash. A BIG thank you to all of those involved in the organisation of this event and to the bar & kitchen staff for keeping everyone fed & watered …. but also to all those ladies who turned out on the night to have some fun and celebrate the memory of a brave lady Carol Ditchfield.
